Whether you’re throwing a kid-friendly holiday party with an ’80s theme or an adult party with an adult theme, you’re going to want your home to be ready for the holidays before the parties begin. It’s always possible that you’re going to have a house full of guests for the holidays as well, so it’s important to prepare your home for the holiday season ahead of time.

While you might think it’s better to just wait until the last minute to prepare your home for the influx of holiday guests, it’ll be much less stressful if have it done early. Follow the tips below so you can rest stress-free until the holiday parties begin.

1. Have your heat pump and AC inspected.

If you want the holidays to be merry and bright, it’s a good idea to have a reputable HVAC company come out and do a routine heat pump maintenance check and do a check on your AC as well. When the summer months are winding down and when the holidays ramp up, you should cover your AC unit for the winter to keep it safe, after a technician has inspected it. Your heat pump is the thing that you’ll need when you have guests in and out of your home. If you have it inspected and properly maintained before the holidays arrive, that’s one less problem you’ll have to deal with.

2. Outsource those holiday chores.

If you’re like most Americans’s the holiday is a time of hustle, bustle, and wondering how you can possibly get everything done before Christmas. One of the best ways to handle all the work is to outsource those holiday chores. Hire a reputable cleaning company to come out and deep clean your home, have your carpets cleaned professionally, and you can even hire professionals to come in and decorate your home for Christmas as well. While decorating for the holidays can be fun for the entire family, sometimes you just don’t have the time to fit it into your busy schedule, so hiring someone to do it for you, makes good sense.

3. Be sensible when it comes to safety.

Whether you decide to decorate your own home or have someone else do it, you need to be sensible when it comes to safety. With the added lights, a Christmas tree, scented candles, and even holiday baking, the potential for accidents and fires is increased two-fold. Make sure to keep an eye on any lit candles and never leave them in a room with no one present, check all wiring for safety, and keep your tree watered the way you should to prevent a fire.

4. Don’t forget your fur babies.

One of the easiest things to do in the middle of the hustle and bustle, especially when you have a house full of people is to forget the pets that you love and have made a part of your family. You want to make sure that your pets are safe and secure, and that there’s nothing dropped on the floor that they could eat and get sick from. Chocolate especially isn’t good for dogs and that’s one of the most popular items to serve during the holidays.

5. Have fun with family and friends

In the middle of all your holiday preparations, it’s important not to forget the family and friends you’re doing all of this for. Take your time, breathe deep, and make sure you unwind with family and friends before the holiday season descends.

These are just a few of the best tips out there for preparing your home for the holidays ahead. Remember, preparation is important, but you also need to spend time with the ones you love at the same time.
